A little extra charge on your credit card bill . . you wouldn't notice would you?

An interesting whistle blowing e-mail from Natasha Fatale (aka Rose Weeks)
Thanks Natasha,
Boris (aka Dave)

Hi Boris,
I just thought I would let you know that if you use a Bank America credit card and pay it off every month you might want to look and make sure there are no finance charges added on to your card.  I pay ours off every month and the last 2 months they hit me with finance charges.  I called them and they couldn’t understand how that could be since I pay mine off every month and on time.  I just can’t believe that they would try to sneak it past me.  Just think, if people don’t really look at their cards carefully, not just a cursory look at the purchases, how much extra money do you think they make off of us? I know that you have a huge client base and if you thought it was worthy that you would pass the info on to them.  No biggie if you don’t.
Thanks for letting me vent,
Natasha

Bank of America are not the only ones ... we used half a dozen credit cards for business purchases and racked up a few million airmiles with various airlines, which I shall enjoy redeeming during my "retirement". I always paid the bills in full, on time, and frequently had small-ish amounts of "finance charges" added to the bills. When I called about it, there were always apologies and no explanations offered. I often wondered how many times these little "errors" happened to other customers who did not pay their bills in full and therefore would have little perception of whether the finance charge was correct. Just another way "they" will shaft you if you let them. Cheers, Lynda

Capital One just raised my credit-card interest rate based on "personal spending habits and the current economic conditions." I guess by "personal spending habits" they are referring to the way I pay the full balance every month, as I have done for the entire five years that I've had it. Oh, and they did this just days before the new laws kicked in. Makes me sick, but I guess it won't affect me until that one time I can't pay it all off. Thanks for letting ME vent, Dave, ha! Brian

Thanks for the info. Carolyn and I check every statement every month. Also, we check every receipt when we purchase anything at any store (including grocery store). You wouldn't believe how many times we have caught that it rings up differently on the register than what is posted on the item or the shelf and many times the same item will end up scanned more than once.
